7 Things That Were Normal 50 Years Ago And Are Banned Now

Asbestos In Buildings

In the 1970s, asbestos was in everything. Insulation, floor tiles, roof shingles, even hair dryers. It was cheap, fireproof, and everywhere. Then we learned it caused mesothelioma, asbestosis, and lung cancer. Thousands of workers died. The US began restricting it in the 1970s, and by the 1980s, most countries had banned it. Today, asbestos is treated like radioactive waste. If you find it in an old building, you call a specialist. You don’t touch it.
