5 Inventions That Were Rejected By Everyone Before Changing The World
The World Wasn’t Ready for the Telephone

When Alexander Graham Bell demonstrated his telephone in the 1870s, the technology seemed bizarre compared with the telegraph, which was already an established communications system. Bell struggled to attract financial backing and encountered skepticism about whether ordinary people would actually want to speak through a machine. Even Western Union, the dominant telegraph company, initially declined to acquire Bell’s telephone technology.
The telephone eventually spread with extraordinary speed. By allowing people to communicate through speech rather than coded messages, it created an entirely new communications network.
What looked like an awkward extension of the telegraph became the foundation of the modern telecommunications industry.
